One new idea has been the introduction of the yellow T shirts.
These are worn primarily by nine to twelve year olds who have
been selected by their adult visitors to help round up kids
and get them to the Kidz Klub bus stops. Known as bus workers
these young workers can make a significant difference in the
number of kids that attend each week. We've found that kids
in this age group love a bit of responsibility and enjoy a
lot of recognition. On the bus they may be asked to help in
various ways but once at Kidz Klub they sit down with all
the other kids.
Another recent development in visiting the kids is the concept
of teams. This means instead of a couple of people going out
to visit a whole area we are now trying to develop visiting
teams. These can be made up of as many as four adults, four
teenagers and half a dozen bus workers. Obviously they don't
all visit the same house at the same time but are instead
free to visit the people that they best identify with and
vice versa. This in turn helps to develop key relationships
on your visiting rounds, which is undoubtedly a key to long
term success.
Captain Dave says, "Alternatively, you could buy some
t shirts and dye your hair blue too!"
