Kidz Klub explodes into Europe!
Ruth Orange reports from Bialystok in Poland:
Kids Klub has been going in Bialystok now for about 8 months
and we have 100 kids that we visit and about 50-60 come on
a Saturday. There are five visiting rounds: me and a friend
who translates for me do one, a student girl who I used to
live with does another, two old ladies do one, a older lady
(who reminds me of Shelia Sharples [from Frontline Church,
Liverpool] becasue she is so good at what she does) has
another one and a old man and a young Brazilian missionary
do another. It took a while to get these rounds to be visited
consitently but now these people have taken them on it's good.
Dave, Steph and Abi Sharples came out in April and Dave made
and painted a set for the club. It's brilliant and the kids
love it! The structure of the club is just the same but not
up to the quality or quantity of Liverpool's yet! The famiilies
and kids are very open, which was a nice surprise as 99% normally
wouldn't particpate in anything to do with a Pentecostal church.
While the kids are upstairs, some ladies from the church have
tea and coffee and basket making downstairs for the mums.
This has been really successful and good friendships are being
made and money as well as they take the baskets and sell them
in the market!
I live in Bialystok which is quite a big city but nowhere
near the population of Liverpool. Its got everything you need
and is getting more modernised every year. The kids that come
to the club are from quite poor homes. In winter it gets very,
very cold, down to -40C and some live in just the kitchen
to keep warm. Apart from state of their homes they are the
same as any other kid; they play out in the evenings, make
mischief, go to school etc. Half the kids go to school from
8am-2pm and the other half go from 2pm-6pm and later, cos
there is not enough schools and this makes it harder for visiting
because some are in and some are at school.
I'm really encouraged with the kids that come and what God
is starting with them. Its wonderful to be a part of seeing
a generation being reached by God. We had a kids camp last
week in the lake district of Poland. The youth band from Frontline
came and 16 of our Kidz Klub kids came. It was an amazing
time of fun, friendships and God working. Prayers were answered
everyday and God has started something in these kids that
won't go away. I'm so glad that we had the camp because it
was like God was saying, "look, these kids wouldn't be here
listening to the truth if it wasn't for Kidz Klub; it's working
so don't be discouraged when things don't go as well as you
would like."
A big problem I have faced is lack of workers; the kids are
open and here, the parents are ready but there is not enough
people to do all that could be done. It's like when Jesus
said in the bible about the harvest being plentiful but the
workers are few. The possiblities are endless here, just like
in Liverpool! These kids are ready and up for it!
