Alan & Jane Penry of The Ark Community Church in Abbots
Langley in Hertfordshire run their weekly Alive & Kicking
Kidz Klub. Over recent years they have been developing international
Kidz Klub activities in Egypt, India and Uganda, under the
name of Children of the World Projects.
Egypt
For the last 7 years we have taken children from the Garbage
Village of Moutamdiah on the outskirts of Cairo, on holiday
to a Kidz Klub style camp. This year we used many of the object
lessons from last term and they worked really well. The theme
of the camp was "Choices". Over the week we played
many games, presented a drama, taught object lessons and had
lots of fun. Then back into the village to work with several
hundred children each night, sharing the gospel and challenging
the children to make Godly choices for their lives.
Uganda
In April we organised a Kidz Klub style camp for six hundred
children. This was a totally new experience for many of the
children. We ran two days of teachers training sessions followed
by the camp, again using object lessons, games and lots of
fun to get over how much God loves them. During our week in
Uganda, we had the opportunity to speak to over 2500 children
and we saw over 500 children give their lives for the first
time to the Lord.
India
This Kidz Klub camp in October was amazing, with many Hindu
children present. We were expecting 200 children however the
final number was in excess of 400. Again a lot of fun was
had as we presented the gospel and over a hundred children
were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit including many
Hindus.
